Our Beliefs
What we tend to hold in common in our beliefs is best understood through the several following statements.
A New Creed
Some forty years ago A New Creed was accepted formally as a creed of the United Church of Canada. Many times through the year this creed is recited in our worship service as a reminder of who it is we say we are.
What follows is taken from the United Church of Canada website.
A New Creed
We are not alone,
we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.
Our Mission Statement
As a community of God’s people, we seek with the help of the Holy Spirit, to share the love of God with every person. We provide a setting to experience God’s love and come to understand what it means to follow the living Christ as Saviour and Lord. We will encourage one another as we put our faith into action.
